Diving in…to Providencia’s Picture-Perfect Sites

Visit the third largest coral reef in the world—32 km’s worth of adventure!  This is the only reef in the world of its kind due to the Island’s historical volcanic activity and formation.  The stunning seascape, endemic species, and critical socio-ecological significance led to the region’s declaration by UNESCO as a Marine Biosphere Reserve in 2000—the “Seaflower Biosphere Reserve.”  Together with San Andrés and Santa Catalina islands, Providencia contributes to the Reserve that covers 10 % of the Caribbean Sea.  A biodiversity “hotspot” not to be missed—join us to explore its bounty and beauty of land and sea.

Bonus: We will be travelling during the Black Crab (Gecarcinus ruricola) mating season in Providencia, where 1000’s of crabs make the walk from mountains to sea.  You don’t want to miss this once–a–year event!
