4th China Advanced Coal Chemical Summit 2009 was held at Baotou Shangri-La Hotel in June 10~12. The current submit focused on how the financial crisis affected China’s coal chemical market and how industry leaders are facing this challenge. The attending specialists communicated in the progress of the most updated coal chemical projects and discussing the latest technologies related to these projects. They agreed that it is a must to saving energy and reducing emissions and promoting the sustainable development of coal chemical industry.

About 150 delegates attended the submit, including the specialists, government officials and executives from National Development and Reform Commission, National Research and Engineering Center for Coal-Water Slurry Gasification and Coal Chemical Industry, International Energy Conservation Environmental Protection Association, Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP, Chinese Academy of Sciences), Shanxi Lu-an Group, International Finance Corporation, ConocoPhillips, Siemens, GE, ABB (China) Ltd, Emerson Process Management, Air Products, NethWater, LyondellBasell and ect.

Doc. MU Xin, a project manager of SYN, representing for Prof LIU Zhongmin, the Chairman of SYN and the vice director general of DICP, gave an invited conference keynote titled “Methanol to Light Olefin (DMTO) Technology”. The speech has aroused great concern of the attending delegates.

The current submit was held in Baotou, where Shenhua 600,000 ton annual coal to olefin project using the first licensed DMTO technology was located in. This project is the first industrial CTO project and also is the only CTO demonstration project authorized by National Development and Reform Commission till now. The main investment has exceeded 18 billion RMB. The attending specialists visited Shenhua Baotou CTO project after meeting.
